I pulled mine out in December to have it re-certified and re-installed it. As far as i know, there is nothing to saqy you cant remove and replace same components of a system, you just can't commision or de-commision one.
HI I've got 3 scuba tanks mounted on the floor in my disco and they need restamping as they are just about out of date. What are the rules about taking the tanks out your self getting restamped and me refitting?Do they give you any certificates to say its been done and does the gas lable under the bonnet get changed and have to been signed by a gas fitter?I can get the testing done for about $180 but got qouted around the $400-450 mark for a gas fitter to do all the work.Iknow its not auto ticket but I have my household lpg ticket so I do kinda know what I'm doing.Any words of wisdom would be appreciated thanks zacc

The compliance plate under the bonnet lasts indefinately and is not restamped when the 10 years are up. The tank is the only thing that is restamped and is then only checked when you get a rego check (in NSW).
I have taken out and reinstalled a single tank out of a Ford and it was very easy.
The hardest bit was making sure I could disconnect the filler tube at the tank (small escape of gas - there should be a one way valve).
I am not sure about the scuba tanks, but the single tank's are just a standard pipe fitting for the outlet, and a connection for the fuel guage.

I removed mine had them re tested and fitted them back myslef no probs.

Generally speaking, anyone can work on LPG systems that involve a shifter.
IE undo and replace household /BBQ bottles.
There is nothing ( as far as I am aware ) that limits this rule. So as long as you don't do any flaring of pipes or brazing etc, go for it.
That is why the scuba fittings are compression joins.

I removed mine to have it tested then refitted it myself. I did have the DieselGas guys sniff the joints with their leak detection equipment.
The flared copper pipe between the tank and the shut-off solenoid leaked so they made up a new one.
I don't think you are supposed to reuse flared copper pipes in LPG installs.

One thing I forgot to mention, run the vehicle out of gas before you remove it as the inspector has to check inside the tanks. You can open up a tank of gas with a qty of liquid still in it, as it won't evaporate fast enough, but the inspector won't touch you with a ten foot pole if you try it!
thanks for the answers guys,I'm gunna do it myself I think
Yeah, save money. Do it yourself.
As suggested, use up all the gas.
Undo all the hoses and wires.
Unbolt it, and take it to the gas tester.
I think by law they have to replace the valve thingys, so you end up with new bits.
When you bolt it all back in, fill it up, and then turn off the gas at the tanks (at the valve on the tanks).
When you get home, turn it on and and listen for leaks.
Then get some diluted dish washing detergent in a squirty bottle and spray everything. (All fitings/joins etc).
Tighten anything that blows bubbles.
Be aware that some threads are left handed.
