LPG Toroidal tanks

For those interested, the vertical toroidal tank that I'm going to put in the back of the Rangie is $1000. For comparison, the manifold tank (3 in the floor and 55ish litres) is $1100.

Size for the toroidal is 680mm x 270mm and 65 useable ltrs. Slightly wider than the wheel but smaller diameter so should be able to make it fit with a bit of modding.

Price for the toroidal comes from the gas fitter and the tank is coming from Australian LPG warehouse. Leaves my floor free for the kids to sleep on.

Price and litreage is pretty good considering you dont have to get custom fuel tanks or lpg cradle, just a swing away carrier for the spare. You could sink the spare wheel well lower so the tank takes up less room inside. I think that would reduce the conversion cost by at least 1k if not more.

Sounds like a pretty goo option to me. Its obviously okay to mount them vertically? Or is it going into a p3a rangie?

Would be nice to mount on vertically in the spare wheel slot on a classic rangie

I'm sure thats what he getting at, they are specially made to mount vertically and are ideal for a classic rangie spare wheel well- which they were around 8 years ago when i converted my first rangie or 3 years ago when i did the 2nd.

Any WA member know of any installers in WA that can supply these tanks?

Im thinking of going lpg injection on my rangie and if i can get a tank like this i will be sold!

I wonder if it could be mounted on the RHS of a Classic thus keeping the spare wheel in its normal location?

If recall correctly there is no wheel well on the rhs. but im sure it could be made to fit. Im not concered about loosing the sare inside my car as i aready have a swc on the back

No, you're right there is no wheel well but that shouldn't be a problem. It wiouldn't matter if the tank went to the roof. Or one could make small depression in the floor.

If I could get a vertical tank into mine, I could put the spare back into the wheel well and sell the Kaymar rear bar and wheel carrier and the existing toroidal tank..

It's for a classic Rangie. I hadn't thought about putting it on the right side!! I think I'll do the wheel carrier and stick it in the left. I was planning to put a water tank in the right and build in some shelves to suit.

Main aim with the toroidal of course is to keep dual fuel and flat floor in the load space.
