    Help with disconnecting LPG Tank

    Anything I should know before I disconnect my LPG tank and remove it.

    Is it a LH thread?

    Should I cut the power to it first? My theory anyway?

    Is it going to release a lot of gas from the lines?

    Do I have to keep it flat, upright or anything?

    It's a manifold tank on the rear cargo floor!

    I will get an installer to reconnect it, or should I just reconnect and get them to check the seal? or do I have to get them to recertify the mountings for the tank?

    Anything else I should know?

    Run the engine with the main valve shut until the engine stalls, this will empty pipes of gas, the pipe fittings are, I believe RH thread, doesn't matter which way the tank sits, last bit up to you, Regards Frank.

    Ive just finished taking my gas tanks out of my old Disco today Just turn off the valve on the tank and let the rest of the gas in the lines just run out by leaving the engine running.Its all pretty easy.I just made sure i marked everything so i knew where it all went back.Hopefully it wont be to bad trying to put it in the new Disco.Good luck with it.

    Yeah i can vouch for that.I have the scuba tanks and they were on half full or half empty It wasnt fun trying to lift it by myself to the shed.

    Yeah, I'm trying to get the main tanks down as low as possible as well as keep the LPG as low as possible without being stranded with no Gas or Petrol. Thanks for the heads up!

    Legally you can do any LPG connection/disconnection providing you only need a spanner.
    Once you have re connected the lines check them with soapy water or detergent mixed in water. You can overtighten compression fittings.

    If you dont know what you are doing be carefull .
    I am a licenced Gas fitter and I would say take it to a licenced Gasfitter to get it removed. Yesterday a mum and her daughter was burnt beyond life in south east Queensland. really sorry about that but the bottle went BANG.

    Job done. Just didn't bother disconnecting. With the filler and wiring it it all looked too hard so I just turned the tap off and stood it up on it;s end and hoped the lines would handle the flexing but they weren't onm too big as bend so should be OK. I will get it checked before I turn the tap back on!
