Hi everyone, I thought it was time I posted a few pics of gas conversions I have done.
The first pic shows the twin tanks I fitted to a bloke's D2. He had a manifold tank of 60 litres and kept running out, so I arranged a swap from a mate's D1 so he now has 125 litres instead, cylinder diameters 285mm.
Next I fixed up his ruined air intake, using a rr 87 air cleaner and V6 Commodore hoses. With new correct plugs and leads it no longer backfires, and if it does later he will still have an aircleaner.
I also did a D2 injection job, built my own bracket and petrol tank too, not that I want to do that again. It took a lot of work to build the tank and I think Brown Davis now do a good one.
I am now getting a few P38A's to do, I have fitted injection to the early and late series, and also traditional systems. But that's the limit of 5 pics I am allowed per post so I'll do them next time.

I didn't think the gas tanks were allowed to be fitted in the vehicle any more. I could be wrong but worth checking.
If a shelf goes make shore you have acess to both taps.
Don't forget the number plate markers for the Emergency services.
Like the way the inectors are mounted.

In a sedan there's sometimes no more than a piece of cardboard between the tank and you. The only new rule is not to fit tanks in front of the drivers position, like in a rear engine car or truck.
In a commercial vehicle (not a wagon) you need protection from the goods carried, like a piece of 1/2 inch ply or some 1.6mm steel sheet. Tank valve access must remain tool free, any cover should be hinged or fitted with hand access holes so the emergency boys can get to them. The number of red things on your number plate should match the number of tanks. I have seen a truck with 3 tanks, all legal so long as the rules are followed.
Hey mounting the injectors high was the easiest option, but the hoses are longer than recommended. Doesn't affect the way it runs noticeably though.

Not very far away, up at Crafers. I ride my treadly thru Castambul sometimes on the way to the torrens river linear park. Lovely neighbourhood.
