Vehicle transport company
Hi all.
Does anyone know of a good, reliable, reasonably priced transport company in the city that would transport a P38 to Katherine in the NT?
So far the cheapest quote I have is $2000.
Thanks in advance.

$2,000 sounds quite reasonable to me, Sydney to Melbourne will cost better than $500 and you are a lot further away.
Why not jump a plane and drive it up?
Your other option is to talk to local carriers in Katherine and see if they have a part load coming up where you can add your P38a.
BTW: all the carriers I know only do the east coast/adelaide corridor.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

I thought that it sounded pretty good. The flight would be between $200 and $300 and then there's the cost of the fuel which wouldn't be cheap. I'd guess at least $1000 in fuel depending on the mpg? There's also the worry that the car may fail halfway. I suppose as it's a new car, new to me anyway I don't know if I have the confidence in it yet as I don't 'know' it.

P.s. I'll ask the local companies and see if they have something. Most of the trucks coming this way tend to be full as a lot of our stuff comes from there and not much from here goes that way!

Do you know the previous owner and when does it need to be picked up? Someone down here could pick it up and have Green Light, Coopers or one of the other repairers check it over for you.
You could always put a post to see if there are a group travelling to the Territory, Simpson or something and tag along.
If you have NRMA Premium care (or the NT equivalent) if it breaks down, they will give you up to a couple of thousand $ to get you and the vehicle home. In your case that is Katherine.

It is coming from a dealer and AVI have carried out an inspection on it and the report is nice and positive with nothing that would cause concern. In fact it's been the best one that has been inspected on my behalf which is much better than some others which have been bleeding to death or running on 6 cylinders.
It would be worth seeing if anyone is heading this way and it could be fun. I have a friend who has offered to drive it back with me to cut down on the stop and rest times, that'll double the flight costs though and it's another 3000+k on the car. Not a real issue really though. It would be a good reliability test as it's approximately one day and 19hrs solid driving according to the net.
I will look into breakdown cover and see what's out there. AANT springs to mind so I'll go off and google them and see what else is about.

Thanks for all of your tips and advice. I went for the freight option and the P38 is on its way to Darwin (seemingly no-one drops off in katherine).
