Joining LROC (Syd) Fees and membership periods

    Hi all

Looking to join the LR owners club, but got a bit confused when looking at the website, under the membership part you see different fees, for 4 parts of the year. What i want to know is do you have to pay these every quarter, adding up to $440 a year, or is there some other arrangement

    Thanks

    William Garthon

    Hi William

No there is one joining fee and an annual membership subscription.

The three other categories are for people who join part way through the year, so they don't pay for a part of the membership year that has already passed.

    How's Malcom and Arthur?

I hear Mal is living it up in Coffs

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

you pay the initial joining fee $50 + whatever the fee for the month you plan to join. so if you join today you pay $35 and then when renewal time comes in july you just pay $85 which is the annual fee.

    Thanks Diana and Liam

Fafa (Arthur) is still going well, he is playing with old cars (veterans) and restoring still which certainly keeps him lively, he and nana are living down in Wagga now (for a few years) as they followed Heather and Jen (the 2 daughters) down as they both married country boys. Dad did his little development thing in Pacific Palms (15 clicks south of Forster) and is now back in Sydney, not sure if i'm supposed to blab but he is working for Trivett's Alexandria now, i guess he missed the product.

I also have a mate with a Disco (yes i inflicted the disease on him haha), so we'll probably join the club soon, just not sure if mum and dad will like the idea during the HSC but i think it's a good resource, especially for day trips around Sydney as i'm pretty stumped for places to go.

    Cheers

    Thanks Will

I wonder why your dad didn't return to Purnell's or is that too close to home and the loss of Arthur's name from the business.

BTW: On my Purnell key ring, it has the Purnell name, the green Land Rover oval followed by the words Since 1951. Is that because of Garthon Land Rover or did Purnell sell Land Rover that early (have not found any evidence of Purnell in the books Arthur saved (thank goodness he did.))

    Hi Diana
The basic answer is the hours, Trivett's are a lot less, and dad also has a work car now (it's his 2nd week). Just a shame about the commute, but after the years working for himself he didn't want to be too tied down. Funnily enough i was talking to dad the other day about the Garthon-Purnell business, apparently, Fafa wouldn't let them have the name, so only the business went, but they were allowed to operate under the name while dad still ran the Hurstville dealership (the last few years) under the Purnell Group ownership.

Regarding your key ring, the 1951 was the year that Purnell's originally started operating IIRC, though it's not owned by the Purnell family anymore but the name carried on. But i'll ask dad when he gets home from work. But it's nothing to do with A.G.M. as Graham Jones gave Fafa the franchise in 1960 i believe. Recently i was speaking to Graham and he told me when he asked Fafa about becoming the south Sydney dealer his reply was "if you want me to" haha, i'm certainly glad he didn't say no. He's still firmly entrenched in the brand, and gets round in an SDV6 D4 (11MY), makes a hell of a tow car.

    Cheers
    Will
