    LROC News

Right! It's been some years since I did a makeover of the magazine (when I was editor many years back - I introduced the full colour single picture front cover that changed every issue. Previously, we had the same pics for the whole year).

Now it's time for another update.

Are there any graphic designers on the forum/in the Club?

Obviously I do have some constraints. I can improve the mag with more white space but that costs money. Less is more!

I can add colour - but that adds costs, too (wait until the January issue - I've found a way to add some colour pics at no additional cost!).

I am looking to restyle the mag and need some expert guidance. I've read books on it (years ago) but that doesn't beat hands on experience.

If you can help, please contact me.

    Ron,
a mate of mine that has helped us out with the four banner stands that we use for promotion, all of the previous expo flyers before 2009 and the current membership form is a graphic artist and was looking into doing work for clubs.
I wouldn't suggest he take over the mag as his rates are phenominal, all of the previous work he has done was in exchange for electrical work on his house, by me. He still hasn't collected yet, I owe him about a week's worth.
Is this the sort of guy you'd like to talk to?

    Yes please, Matt.

I've read books and articles on graphic design but they all assume we can have lots of white space, etc. That's fine for corporate magazines but for low budget club stuff, it's not.

The mag hasn't had a makeover in many years. When I was editor years ago, I cleaned up what the previous editor had done but I didn't do a full makeover. The mag hasn't really moved on since then.
