I think I said you would be hooked once you drove one!!!!!
On my way home from Atherton shopping and a dentist check up I thought I was seeing things when what looked like a 6x6 Perentie turned left up a farm dirt track. I looked up the track as I passed and sure enough it was a 6x6 Perentie!! I did a U turn and followed it to the farm house. The guy has just picked it up after buying it from greys online and he was just doing his first test drive. I explained how I was thinking to get one so I could not resist following him to see one on the flesh. He told me to hop in and take it for a drive!! We drove it up the highway to his sheds on the main farm, we hit around 90km/h no issues and surprisingly quiet. 3rd gear was a bit odd I had trouble getting it in a couple of times but I was not used to the box IMO. We popped the bonnet, it was super clean so the 14,000km was probably correct, but there was a smell of coolant and I noticed the rad guggle and there was a stain down the rad next to a pipe so I told him to check it out before there was any damage. Apart that minor problem there was slight damage to the drivers seat otherwise it was in mint condition. I wish I had taken a pic now. Soo cool to drive even the missus liked it so as soon as I get rid the other cars I will be searching hard to get a good one.
I cant believe I drove one!!!

Yes they are super cool, I dont care anymore about the km/l
When I saw the guy I said I see you have a Perentie 6x6 he said err its actually a Land Rover
Thet are so well made they look like they would almost last forever!!
What is the thing with the sticker that over 80km/h will cause ear damage?
It was very quite at 90 when I drove it..
Cant wait to get one
Chris
They are over the Decibel limit (dont ask me for the number as i have long forgotten) for what will damage an averege persons hearing. The threshold for extended exposure is quite low.
A bit of dynamat or similar product will take care of that.

As I did when driving those wonderful 1980's Kenworths.....
1. Esky and cold drink within reach on a hot day
2. Blanket over knees and woollen socks on hands in winter
3. Foam earplugs in at all times!!!
Ha the Lt95 in the Perentie is pretty funny watching people, that range rover one must be comical!

Try the shifter on a 101... Very funny watching someone try and even find the shifter without looking for it, let alone find a gear.
After driving my 101 for the last couple of years, I didn't find any issue with the perentie box. I would also love to get a 6x6 but alas it will have to wait...
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
I have promised the missus I will get rid of what we have for sale first, then get my 6x6, so next week I will really put some effort in so I can get my 6x6 Perentie, so very cool, I am hooked for sure
