    XX frontline auctions

This has probably already been answered, but does anybody know what the XX painted on vehicles/parts at Frontline machinery auctions mean? Thanks

Bad news if you buy it and think its serviceable! Usually mean unserviceable/ not be be repaired/ not to be reused.

By ADF standards at the time.
It may be scrap. It may be fixable. Bid accordingly.
I purchased a trailer with those markings. After fixing the brakes and replacing the tail lights, it is a good trailer.

    XX Frontline auctions

I wondered if that's what the 'XX' meant, looking at a 4X4 GS at Minto for the November '15 auction: Land Rover 110 4X4 Cargo Soft Top 8/1988 Auction (0025-5016378) | GraysOnline Australia

The description says it comes with a NSW Blue Slip, so reading the responses above I'm guessing this vehicle's tyres didn't meet whatever spec for ADF usage, but are still considered roadworthy for NSW civil registration.

The XX in this case may have referred to the vehicle as a whole.

My trailer had XX in one rim. The rim checks out as fine but parts were missing on the braking system. I assumed the XX was for the trailer as a whole, not just the rim.

As the vehicle has a blue slip, I suspect it has been worked on and any roadworthy issues rectified.

Tyres may look OK but fail on age - if this is relevant to you learn to read the codes for thenyear of manufacture on the tyre .

It may be irrelevant if you are fitting new wheels and tyres.

If it was the Hamilton Qld auction it may be the Queensland equivalent of beer!

(At least when you read both front and rear tyres.)

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

XX on the tyres is for the tyres serviceability. For the ADF it means Do not use.

If it was for the vehicle as a whole, it'd be on the windscreen in red and in the log book.
