Accelerator Cable Woes
[FONT="Arial Black"][FONT="Impact"]Drove over to the city last night, was in the back streets of Enmore (pretty tough without power steering!).
When I turned a tight corner somehow the joint/knuckle/thing for the steering prop managed to catch itself around my accelerator cable!
The accelerator was jammed on about 1/4 revs so I gave it a good flogging to try and loosen it up (read a similar thing happened to another Perentie owner).
Bad IDea! I managed to get it up to about full revs and it was locked on! (lots of funny looks).
I killed the engine and it turned off. Pushed it to the side where I saw it wrapped around, pushed it a little further (this time straightening out the steering which made it come loose).
I got some gaffa tape and taped the loose(ish) cable to the firewall so that it wouldn't get caught again.
I wasn't going to leave it there so I drove home (the cable was now buggered) and the accelerator would stick on how far you pushed it in. Meaning you had to get your foot behind and pull it back off whenever you wanted to stop accelerating (pretty gnarly heading through traffic in Newtown).
If anyone saw the Journo from Drive mag going over the bridge in the Tesla last week which was 'the first autonomous drive over the Harbour Bridge'...... I can pretty much say that my Perentie was the second!
New cable time, hopefully it didn't mess with the steering....
Good times!
