Mine uses less fuel after fitting a turbo
It depends on how much you wind out the fuel screw. More fuel = higher EGTs, more noise, more power/torque. There is a sweet spot I found.
Thanks Phil. From your post earlier, I gather you used the KLR DIY kit. How easy is it to fit? I'm very good with technical and mechanical issues but have very limited experience beneath the hood. Is this something that really should only be attempted by an experienced mechanic or is it really a DIY project for someone technically inclined?
I did mine myself and I am nowhere near being a qualified mechanic.
I am a weekend spanner turner at best.
I did mine over last Easter long weekend along with a radiator rod and flush, air filter bracket mods and snorkel pipe installation. I had it running on the Sunday afternoon.
The kit is comprehensive and the instructions are good and easy to follow.

Definitely DIY for someone technically minded. I did mine and learnt by doing. I bought parts separately, no kit.
What does the kit do about the exhaust? That's the only bit Is not DIY unless you can weld, etc. But hopefully the kit solves that? I took mine to an exhaust shop and had a whole new exhaust put on.
The down pipe with the flange onto the turbo is supplied with the kit but the exhaust is not.
So, does that mean you have to weld up the exhaust to fit the KLR kit?
Yes
You could do a mechanical joint with clamps but you will need a pipe bender to make up an exhaust as it is not the same as any of the Land Rover variants
