Question fitting a turbo to a perentie RFSV

Does anyone have any experience / views on fitting a turbo to a RFSV?
Should i fit a turbo or purchase a 6x6 motor from auction and overhaul and fit.
Cost $5200 to fit a turbo not sure the 6x6 motor option is much more.
    ???

Just do it. Totally transforms the vehicle.

There are a few things need changing if fitting the factory turbo engines, they are a great piece of gear however it would be fine to just turbo your current NA engine.

$5200 including all fitting labour and exhaust etc etc isn't too bad a price.

1st it's a worthwhile mod if you are going to keep it.

Both options have pros & cons.

    Fit turbo:
+ you know the motor is good, you will get a more modern turbo, na motor cope fine with turbo.
    - it's not a turbo motor, there are differences normally but it's been suggested the ADF fitted the same pistons etc. Don't know.

    Turbo motor:
+ it's a turbo motor with upspeced internals and factory manifolds, twin filter, oil squirters.
    - it's condition will be unknown, the turbo will be 1980s technology.

another thought the RFSV has a different gear ratio in the transfer case than the GS i am told. So might have to hunt around for a high rang cluster. Seems the turbo will improve its road performance to the extent that it may run out of legs on the highway without changing the cluster. Anyone had any experience with this?

Yes you will need to go from 1.113 to the .996 high range. I can help with this😊

One of the older members of the NSW Range Rover Club bought one along on Wednesday night to the meeting, and very nice it is if you can call a 110 Defender hardtop nice.

The turbo dump pipe is a lovely curved pipe blended into the turbo flange.
AFAIR it has high ratio gears in the transfer .
He also has a no5 trailer with pintel although the car has been painted a gloss olive green and has nice spoke alloy wheels which is a bit far from army spec.

I had a 1.113 (Range Rover ) Lt95 in mine for years without noticing. The .996 is obviously better but the lower geared box is not terrible.
