first check your connector doesnt look like mine did!

there is another 3 wire connector that you should also check, on the far right of this diagram.

then try tracing the wires back as far as you can looking for any damage. is it shorting somewhere?

my last post assumes you have a perentie.

if all else fails, do yourself a favour and buy a traxide headlight harness.

Thanks. That is probably the answer. Yes, I have an '88 Perentie. The H4 connector looks okay. I checked the earth connection and things got really weird. The middle slot on the H4 connector is connected to a black wire which would be ground, correct? The black ground wire one doesn't earth which I'm not surprised since the middle socket should be for low beams. One of the two outer wires (blue white) does ground. So, it may be best to just replace the harness as you have suggested. The trade includes the relays, correct?

Yep black should be earth. But if the power isnt getting to the connector then I'd guess the problem is further back.
Worth also checking the switch. I can't recall if both left and right feeds go all the way back to the switch or whether they split further down, if that makes sense.

the traxide kit has relays. Get the kit with the parts for adding driving lights, makes that task much easier also. Even if you figure out this problem you'll probably have something else go later anyway so the kit makes good sense.

Thinking again, the L and R are only separate back to the fuses, so I'd say your problem is between the fuses and the light.

Don't forget that left and right headlights and parkers have separate fuses and circuits. Best advice is to fit HD relays to both L and R lights.

Agreed. Upgrade the whole lot!
