Thought we needed a thread about what would make your ultimate ex ADF touring vehicle setup. Go as full on or as light as you like.
I have 2.
#1. 6x6 dual cab with winch, snorkel, Trayon camper on the back, running dick cepek extreme country 235/65R16 with 4 spares.
#2. FFR with winch, turbo, snorkel, solar panels, 235/65R16 dick cepek extreme country's with 2 spares, 750k trailer.
I could run as a historical vehicle but I've been driving rovers for years in Perentie form, so I want to make it how I would for my comfor and fun.
Cheers.

One of these might convert up OK. Destinations would be a little limited, though.

Have you ever seen the tyre, Mick? It didn't do a bad job, all things considered. Visibility was never an issue. It was assumed that everyone else could see YOU. I wouldn't like to try that these days, bur in1973/4/5 it seemed to work.
I did say destinations would be limited. The ADF seemed to send them south, mostly, ( Antarctica was their role ) although there was a Reserve Unit in Sydney, apparently. You can make your own deliberations on the value of that.
Never mind, the LARC V was an extraordinary vehicle, immensely capable in a limited way, and definitely worthy of consideration as a
"touring vehicle". I drove one along Milperra road once. I am not in a hurry to repeat the experience, especially now over 40 years have passed, but it wasn't as hard as you might expect. One thing: the drive was constant across the whole thing, so the rather large prop was always turning. Kept the plebs off the ARSE. Ours weren't camo, they were all plain ally. Had the bucks, I'd have one, no issue. Plenty of room for a camper.

I beleive that when they were auctioned off that a few scrap metal dealers bought them for the alloy hulls, and then sold the mechanicals.same as the ex-army International tippers.
