Hi to ex military Land Roverites.
Recently bought a good 2nd hand Shute Upton/ Ramsey drum winch/ Pto and shafts here in Australia.
It came off a presumed ex army 109 6 cylinder (Holden though - filter other side)
I am fitting it to Rosie my ex NSW S2 109 fire truck (Rover 6)
The winch drum and frame bolt up the front bumper mounts great.
The Pto unit bolts up to the T/box ok and selector mounted and it all engages fine.
I’m struggling now to get the driveshaft’s mounted. They will fit inside the chassis rail and clear of box mounts etc . They would run straight if it wasn’t for the old school oil filter cartridge on the Rover 6 cylinder.
Does anybody know how the shafts were run. I’ve found various mounting methods for the mid mounted bearing carrier . Usually fixed through chassis rail towards the rear of the engine block.
Was the oil filter housing modified to allow the shaft to run straight, parallel and level with the sump joint.
Any thoughts on spin on filter adapters to fit the 6 cyl. Or using a housing off a 200tdi or similar.
Anyone done a remote oil filter system on a Rover 6?
Any ideas welcome.
Mick
Worth asking the question on the REMLR forum although very little traffic through there nowadays.
I found the attached, it mentions a specific PTO for the 6-cylinder.
