Horndraulic dog trailer for my Mk3

This week I have purchased another trailer to use behind my Mk3. (Yes the bridging trailer is up for sale.)

Anyway it's currently near the Victorian high country so haven't taken any piccys yet.

It looks like the one behind this Mk4 at Corowa a few years ago.

Does anyone have any experience with these trailers and might you know where the chassis number may be located?

    Horndraulic 3 ton (dog) trailer.

Juest thought I'd introduce the latest accessory for my Mk3.

Bought it off ebay and with a bit of a luck, another enthusiast's bid didn't get placed and I saved about $300.

Plan was another mil enthusiast would bring it back from Victoria on his semi, but it needed to be flat towed to where he could pick it up. The result, I had tp drive down to Wodonga, acquire an unregistered vehicle permit and also head off along the Omeo Hwy to check the roadworthy condition of the trailer plus make the (absent) lights work, so the truckie could pick it up later with the pime mover.

On arrival it was obvious there were too many issues with the old wiring, including burnt wires, so a complete re-wire was required. Three hours later:

Having moved the trailer with the D4 to allow the re-wiring, I took a chance!

Arriving at the farm at mid-night, 20 1/2 hours after I left Sydney, still with a 3 hour drive back home.

This begs the question, why would you need a Mk4 when you've got a D4.

    Nice trailer Diana!

Reference your request for a new rim in "Wanted" - is it not possible to repair the rim by welding?

    Cheers Charlie

There is invasive rust in the bead so would like a better rim for safety as we would like to get the trailer civilian rated so to be able to carry something up to the weight of a Bren Gun carrier (3.75T).

A repaired rim may be O.K. as a spare for a short drive, but ATM I don't have a spare at all.

Old Thread Revival New info required

    Hi all
Thought I’d revisit this thread instead of starting a new one. It’s quite old so if any of the original posters are around please add info/updates about your own trailers.

I recently found a new project that I would like to restore to original which is a befitting follower to any Landrover being the
    Horn-Draulic 3 Ton Dog Trailer.

I’m looking for any info on it including history/parts and photos.
Where the serial number is or did it have one?
Has anyone successfully fixed the hyd/air brakes or did you convert to electric/hydraulic or even full electric.

Mine looks the same as this one but missing the headboard.
Any links to other threads on the same trailer welcome.
    thanks Dan.
