    Please be gentle

I'm interested in getting one of the 2500 military trailers that are going to be sold off later in the year, and I want to use it as a family trailer.

What should I be looking out for, good/bad points?

It will have a very easy highway life so I want something I can load up and tow away without having to do much work to it. I feel I must mention that it will not be restored and my end up pink in colour.

Sorry, 2 kids = no brain at the moment.

No camper trailer, just a trailer to take all the family's stuff on holiday. Preferably with a cover.

Most army trailers can be fitted with a cover may even have hoop and cover from auction thats somthing to look for, also do you have a nato towing hook if not you will have to change the trailer pintle or get a nato hook for your car and make up a connecting plug as the trailers are not wired the same as civvy ones.So maybe not simple but they are much toughter

I thought he meant he wants a trailer, that he doesn't have to do much work on, that he can load up with gear easily, and travel mainly on highways.

very easy highway life? Don't go for an army one, heavy, small capacity, and the above modifications needed. And will not be cheap, guaranteed.

If you can find an old Venter trailer, they go just fine on the road. Light, aerodynamic and plenty of capacity. i set mine up with a roof rack and bike holders, redid the wheel bearings, some rust converting and patchup paint, new jockey wheel; have done over 1500 total k's in 3 trips no worries.

sat down nicely out of the wind behind the defender.

    cost me $300 of a mate's brother.
