G'day Andy, cheers for that. Notice in the first photo of the left front the rear road wheel is off the ground. That's because it has a broken torsion bar. Generally if one is gone the the opposite will eventually go, leaving this tank slowly sitting on its bum and the weight of the tank then gets picked up by the remaining torsion bars. So they could break (could be over quite a few years) one by one possibly leaving this tank on its belly plate.

Hi Troops
Just wondering what the ARN is on the ARVM , I spent 9years on Leopard ARVMs, the vehs I had was , 27787,27782,32932 and 32933 I think that was there no's ,I spent a fair bit of time setting some of the museam veh up, I placed the mock up WW1 tank at the enterance, I think Lou walker was the RSM at the time, any way veh's all look good, keep it up, I must visit next time I am down.

G'day Lozza, mate I'm only 900m from the Museum and will get the ARNs of the 2 ARVMs there. Bandiana Museum has an operational ARVM. The RAEME dust bowl has one holding ground with a gun tank on a A-frame as a gate guardian. The other 4 ARVMs have been allocated as hard targets. Wide bay, Shoal Water Bay and I forgot the other.

I can't believe they would sent the ARVMs as targets, they would be a more useful veh than a MBT in more ways than one. The only LEOPARD veh the tankies had no control of, exept track miles, at the end they still get blown up, what a shame, Thanks for the info, Easo

do you still want pics of the damage to the Pt Kennedy (WA) one, or any photos at all as I don't recall seeing any in this thread.
From memory (it's been a fair while since I was close up) all visi blox are smashed plus I think rear lites and reflectors. Not sure what else by now but the locals may have done more.
Let me know what you want and I'll try to get for you.
When ever the opportunity arrives. I have relocated back to Darwin for a few years so my Leopard activities are a bit slow for now.
i love the tank in echunga, visit it often. It needs some tlc as weather is taking its toll slowly. a dab of rust buster on those areas would really be helpful to it. there is a driving tank of some sort around the hills here, does anyone know what or who owns it? the majority of the time i see it, it is living in a paddock with cows, and often driving around the paddock. reading throug this thread, can tanks not be owned by private people? decommissioned turret obviously. I have always wanted to sit in one or go for a ride, was hoping to in NZ as a company there ran tank rides/drives. but in the last few weeks they have shut up shop :( but if tanks cannot be owned by general public who might have enougb money to buy one (the NZ ones are forsale) then how did the lucky chap around maccy/strath end up with a tank?

The Tank Museum at Puckapunyal has an annual operating budget from Defence that does not include appropriate funding for maintenance of the collection and being in Seymour there are limited volunteers available to even regularly wash the collection. Particularly those stored in the weather.
