I was watching the Kiwi Motorway Patrol the other night, and a young lad had been pulled over because his suspension was too low, and he kept trying to tell the copper that his police car was more modified. The copper replied that it was a standard Commodore, and all they do is put up rated springs in the rear.Quote:

Thanks for your feedback. I am looking at it as a replacement for my current miltary vehicles - Ferret Mk 1/2 and S2A FFR.
I am getting too old to do maintenance in the confined space of the Ferret let alone cope with the weight of armour and I thought the Perentie FFR may be a better ride than the S2A.
On the other hand I have had a new top made for the S2A and ex-RAAF Track Trailer, spent money getting it up to scratch mechanically/electrically (including new wiring loom) and fully roadworthy so not sure about moving it on.
I will probably move the Ferret on, keep the S2A and see what happens over the coming months.

Not really a whole lot of fun stuff, mostly in the interests of adapting the vehicle to the end users unique requirements, the big appeal for the BT1/9C1 Commodores up untill around the VT era was that they were to all intents and purposes an SS Commodore with executive badges, down to the SS embroidery on the seats and SS badge on the dash, which made insurance a LOT cheaper for the younger male drivers who wanted them....
The garden variety general duties cars generally arent too special in terms of performance, but I've seen three VE Omega police cars, one an in service striped up general duties car, and two pensioned off into private ownership (both detectives/unmarked cars) that were fitted with the higher output SV6 spec engine....
And yes, I know I need to get a life.....

I guess there is a demand somewhere.....
Problem is they paid too much for them in the first place and are trying to make a profit, I'd be very surprised if it sold, unless someone really wants one and doesn't know about the auctions.Quote:

Army landies will almost always have less K,s than civvy one of the same age that will change as they are taken on long trips, but there has been talk that the Odo have been reset at rebuild so it may reflect klm since then not over the life of the truck:)
They have all been through the parts pool at least once, so the odo is not necessarily original fitment to that vehicle. And even if it was, the rest of the vehicle might not be original fitment to that odo...Quote:

Kreecha, this is not a case of Demand setting the price. As LRJR says, it is the silly purchase price and unreasonable expectation by Retailers of an endless queue of enthusiasts or wannabe (tossers) ready to pay whatever is being asked because it is cammo.
Take the number of supplemental purchase (NOT as is often mis-represented by Retailers as Perentie) TD5 Defender 5 doors, languishing on Forecourts across the country for nearly a year (or more?)! Still with their hopeful $35K+ price tags. They drop a couple of $K every 6-9 months, but have a long way to go before the average punter can justify the Low Ks/ jerry can storage to the Paint/ premium price.
But it's all good, eh?
We (the sensible enthusiasts) have been patient so far (sorta ; )). Let Cousins et al, buy up big and exhaust their budgets, leaving auctions 6-15 to reflect the REAL value of the gear. Deja vu for anyone familiar with the SIII sell off in the '80s.
