I will not posting on this thread any more.
I will say Sell and Parker/frontline macinery are very good companies and I will bet my bottom dollar any dealings you have with them will be fair.
I sounds like they are trying very hard to get this working well and I expect things will settle down.
I do like the way they seem to be trying to improve the buyng process for all involved and will most likey be a improvement to previous methods.

I think these auctions are going to be classed as 'attrition of the weak' style, where the auction is:
a) only held online in a VM (no physical auction room).
b) after the auction end time expires ... 1645hrs 27-02-13, the end time is extended by 10 mins per bid to enable the item to draw the maximum price.
So, I can see a lot of weary souls still sitting at their puters at 0500hrs the next day, if not asleep, then certainly, semi comatose.

I reckon that's a great system!
Stops the gazumping that you get in the last 5 seconds of an eBay auction, and gives you 10 minutes to think if you want to increase your bid.

The problem I have with the time extended auctions, is that you'll get two tightwads sitting there, slugging it out, ten minutes at a time. This doesn't happen at a physical auction ... just time wasting.

Well it sort of does in a real auction, because you get the Going ... Going .... Gone.... time to decide if you want to bid again, and you know what the other person's maximum bid is.

Just spoke to Kevin at Greys Auctions, and he said roughly the following:
- No registration on Unimogs - have to sort out permits with RTA
- There are 2 Unimogs up for auction, both soft tops with drop side units with Palfinger HIABS but no winches. They both come with trailers on a NATO hitch.
- There is 1 6x6 Ambulance body Perentie up for auction
- No Unimog 6x6 MRVs
all the rest are just 110's.

Also - both Unimogs will have a mechanical inspection report from an independent truck expert...
Kevin from Gray's just phoned me back.
They're still putting together the catalogue for the upcoming sale. Expecting 15-20 Land Rover 110's, possibly some hardtops included, so the vehicles are not necessarily the exact specs listed on the Gray's page. This is a guide only - the catalogue is the definitive source, which isn't released until 21st Feb.
Although the vehicles haven't been inspected by Gray's yet, they hope to provide blue slips with the vehicle where possible. Additionally they might provide a mechanical report. It sounds like the vehicles are only just now arriving at their site, so they haven't had a chance to get to any of this detail yet. All will be revealed on 21st Feb.
No information available on future sales. Each sale is catalogued in the preceding weeks, so they have no idea what they will sell next or when. Kevin's suggestion (clearly he's in sales) was don't wait if you see something you like, as there is no guarantee there will be more. They might bulk sell some vehicles in the background etc, meaning they never make it to a Gray's auction.
SO, even if there's 1-2 hardtop 110's (what I'm keen to purchase), surely purchasing in this initial auction is going to be costly? The viewing days make it tough being that I'm in Melbourne. I have to decide half way through the auction if it's worth flying to Sydney to look at something. :mad:
