Don't mean to be a spoilsport, but do they break pedestrian safety rules, like fishing rod holders? Wouldn't like to see you get fined by some over-zealous cop.
Also, would they be less likely to be stolen if on a roof rack? Just a thought...

Yeah, I love the look, but I'd rather keep my tools away from prying eyes.
I've seen one up here (QLD) with an axe on the bonnet so I don't know if it is an issue here. I too don't really want to put tools on the bonnet all the time but would like to have a full set for when I go camping and then they should look the part
