Hi Grill, I thought I had a good collection but yours is way out in front.Well done.Only one of mine was scratch built, as a toy for my son, and not really well built at that.Cheers, 130man.
thanks 130man...
its nothing mate'...there are to many open box and chipped collections of mine..only a few in mint condition n still in the box...an my scratch build still far from perfect..to many missing details and rough spot...
i bet you can build better than me mate...once you made one you'll wanting more to make more of it...thats what happened to me..

Hi Grill, I particularly like your 130 double cab model. How did you do that one? I would like to do something similar. It hadn't occurred to me to chop up other models and mix and match parts but I can see the possibilities now.Cheers, 130man.
That's quite an impressive collection.
I'm upto about 50 models now. Half a dozen are plastic kits and a couple of them are RC. I would love to do a scratch built but cant decide on what media to use.
I do have the instructions for an electric series II from the Real Life Toys collection but I haven't started that yet. Maybe your post will inspire me.
Well done, good work.
hi...
thanks 130man
i did it by modifying die cast land rover scale 1:43 cararama, basic model is defender 110..
first i cut the rear body, the hardtop, and also cut the chassis...
an then i did some scratch build on the back such as:
- rear hi-capacity pickup
- rear windows frame
- soft top frame
- stretching the chassis
the rear pickup and the rear window frame were made from plain plastic material similiar to the tamiya's plaplate...just shape it up, cut it up, and then some putty job to smoothing the final shape.
the chassis also stretched using plaplate, add some more lenght to make the wheelbase 130 (in 1/43 scale)..
the softop frame was made from paperclip...
i also modifiying the hardtop by cutting it and put some plaplate in the cutted side to make the double cab rooftop...
its pretty easy to find the material mate'..for plaplate you can find it maybe in the local kit model shop...papper clip? offcourse its an easy stuff to find...
i think its a better way that you build the "needed" part (such as pickup, rear windows frame, etc) by scratch build it that you mix it from the other models...because it can be more you and more like what you want..
happy tryin mate'..
im still tryin and learning to modify and build models...so maybe i cant give you much tips..but i'll try to help you as far as i can..ok?
so if there are any questions i'll help you..
cheers,

hi..
thanks foz.in.oz...
50 models are a huge numbers of built...awesome mate'...!
im not focusing on building plastic kit, sometimes i modify some diecast models, or sometimes just collecting it...as long as its a landrover..heheh..
glad that i can inspire you...
you can use the plaplate from tamiya (a kind of plain plastic material) to build the body...and some putty to smoothing the shape...
cheers mate'...

Hi Grill, thanks for that information. I have about 140 diecast Land Rover models, mostly Series and Defender styles with random Range Rovers thrown in.One or two plastic kit builds as well. I'll have to have a go at a 130 using you ideas. Good stuff.Cheers, 130man.
