I'm toying with the idea, do any of you know the drill re compliancing?
I'm led to believe that new tyres and a brake fluid change are required.
I'm interested in an Anniversary (2000 MY) 1500 or later 1800 Goldwing, both models are available in Australia, as delivered new and secondhand imports.
Apart from having a blat on the wrong side of the road and the obvious, seeing the bike before shelling out the hard-earned, are there any advantages in going Stateside? One big plus is the amount of bling available there.

					V8 Ian,
I copied your question off to my brother, who has been importing bikes and vehicles from the states for many years. What follows is his reply. I hope it's helpful.
 Don.

"You have to get letter of permission from Canberra government dept of import -
Saying you will comply to Aussie standards - find a person who has permission to comply that particular year make and model of bike (Google it )- then buy it ship, take to compliance dude - only needs new tyres , . headlight bulb , exhaust must be standard
He needs to weigh it up , shipping compliance etc etc , see if it's worth it - he could probably buy a smashed one from insurance auction & fix it up cheaper - I'm guessing cause no one buys smashed jap bikes except wreckers and they pay very little for them , so should be cheap."

Thanks Don, 'Wings are a bit scarce on the ground in Australia and so command silly money.
If it is viable for me to import, I can have a choice of colour and accessories, as opposed to making do with what's available here.
