Russian machine tools are very good. Heavily constructed and nearly apprentice-proof. I had a large Stankoexport universal milling machine with motorised overarm. I would recommend their lathes and mills to anyone.
Their Cossack and Izh motor cycles were stone reliable. Built like brick dunnies to withstand service in central Asia and Siberia.

I'm led to believe that this piece of Russian machinery was also considered to be quite tough and very effective.
