I'm not surprised, Baz. SMS seems to be a very unreliable method of communications. I've had many texts delivered to Elisabeth the day after sending them. On Friday, I sent a message saying I'd be late. It arrived an hour after I got home.

Not to mention texts between apple and android or if you swap brands. I'm now on android and texts to apple are always dodgy at best.

And great thread redback. I'm looking at an old bike to fix up now. My wife says 'Thanks a lot!'A mate has a free to good home 79 cb250 with a 400 motor but I know there are better bikes about. But free is free too

    Pricey

It is hard to find any old Kawasakis out there, and when you do, they $20,000 + for them, cheapest H2 I found was $22,500

Although the H1 500s are around the $6000 to $8000 mark, as is the CB750s of the same era, there are some bargins though, just got to find something that wasn't an iconic bike in it's day.
    Cheers Baz.

If you need some inspiration grab a copy of the latest Australian Motorcyclist Magazine. They have an article on the new and the old H2.

More progress this weekend, Friday I took the engine cases, heads, barrels and rear wheel hub down to get Hydoblasted, took the tank, side covers, ducktail and headlight bucket to the painters.

Some before pics of the engine cases

    Crank Shaft

    Gearbox and top case

I decided I would go the whole hog with the engine, so yesterday I ordered a new rod and bearing kit along with a 72.5mm Wiseco Piston kit

    Rod kit

    Piston kit

Yesterday I bought 2 cans of semi gloss caliper paint and repainted my front brake calipers, after they touch dried, they needed to be baked at 90deg Celsius for 1 hour, then need to be left for 7 days to cure properly, I think they turned out quite good, I spent a bit more time in the preperation, well worth the extra time.

Baz, a couple of pics from the motorcycle show today. Warren Willing's Kwaka (or replica? The seat looks out of place on a race bike.)

Sorry about quality, I'd left my Pentax in the bike and only had an iPhone.

    Nice work Baz,
Having watched one of these motors in action today at the Rob Roy Hill Climb, albeit in a buggy frame, I am more than interested in seeing you work on this, and then of course, the end product.

I remember that bike, he won a few races on that, even in it's later years, I think 75/76 if I remember, thanks for the photo, a google search is on the cards now.

The triple engine is reknowned for being over engineered, actually Kawasaki were known for over engineering all the bikes in that era.

Proof is when you see the bottom end of the Kawasaki 650 W1 (first Kawasaki 4 stroke)and the bottom end of the BSA 650 it was copied from.

Thanks mate, at 72.5mm, it's at 780cc, not a lot to go after this, 73mm is cutting it close,
The H2 (previous model 71/72)came with 105 mains, 35 idle jet and the needle set at the 2nd groove.

The H2A(my bike 73) came with 97.5 main jets, and an idle jet of 35 and the needle set at the 3rd groove, so I put 105s in mine and put the needle up one the same as the previous model.

The H2B/C 74/75) was different again, it came with 102.5 and a larger idle jet of 40 and the needle set at the 4TH groove.

These diferent tunes probably had to do with the different port setups between the models.

I'll see how it performs and go from there, I'm pretty familiar with how to tune these bikes, lessons learnt from racing my H1 and the mistakes I made with it.

Here's the specs for Warren Willing H2.

Picked up all the bits I had powder coated today, they turned out well, I wish all the others were this quick and helpful.

Now for the paint, can't wait to see how those turn out.
    Cheers Baz.
