One thing I found about narrow trails like that one, is that your confidence level seems to be better when the drop off is not very steep or a long way down

I have never done anything like that, don't know if I would be confident enough, done heaps of narrow trails similar, just not that high up.

    Yamaha Trail Bikes

A mate of mine dad managed a farm which like all farms had vehicles lying around. The farm sold and the two bikes below were given to my mate and his brother.

Both bikes are from the mid 70s, the blue trials bike is a 77 and the trail bike is the first of the 500cc thumpers of about 76.

Now bikes were bought new and never used - so they are in totally original condition with about 100km on them. The blue trials bike sold in an online auction for $4500 and the white 500 trail bike is about to go up for sale was expecting about the same - however my mate has a cash offer of $6000 so he is now a bit worried he might have under valued the bike. I know they are very popular and indeed in 1977 for some stupid reason bought a Yamaha 400DTE instead of the 500cc four stroke so there is definitely a market for these original bikes.

So anyone got an idea what the 500cc bike is worth - noting it is as new.

    Thanks

    Garry

How long is a piece of string?

Given the fact that these bikes where given to them I'd be thinking that at 6k old mate should be pretty happy, thats a lot more than they would have paid new, you could hold out for more but you could get less, I'll admit the xt500 is in good nick as new, it's really worth what someone is willing to pay? I'd take the 6k
