Very nice, highly jealous
Would love another bike myself, but alas, it doesn't fit the plan
On Wednesday the daughter decided she wanted to look at a new Bike(used)so taking her height into account(172cm or 5'6"} I gave her 6 bikes to look at, she narrowed them down to two, a Ducati Monster and the BMW F650GS/G650GS, now as I had Friday off, we decided we would drop by a shop to see if she felt comfortable sitting on the bikes, just to look with no intension to buy, that would be next year when my H2 was finished, yeah right
Well on Thursday, she says, I really like the BMW, can you look to see if any of the shops have any, sure Ness no problem, I found two at Bikebiz and as I was going out that way to drop off my Instruments, we would swing by on the way home, so we arrive at Bikebiz, we spot the bike, wow she says, I like the colour, looks so much better in person(that was code for I want it now) and so it began, I'm going to see the sales guy, next minute, I'm going for a test ride, well it was all over her face when she pulled that helmet off, could not of knocked that smile off with a B-Double.
So it begins, as of Friday this week, she will be the proud owner of a 2012 F650GS(800 twin) in imaculate condition in blue, ABS, trip computer, crash bars, Barkbusters, Ventura top box, heated grips, Leo Vince Evo carbon fibre Exhaust and only 21,000ks.
Good deal I think, she bought a new helmet as well, a Bell Revolver Evo Modular, she's happy, I'm happy she's happy, so all good.
Cheers Baz.

One of the best shows I've watched was both the Long Way Round, and the Long Way Down with the two film guys in them. Although well supported, riding around the various countries as they did would be just awesome.
They did both of these trips on the big BMW bikes, fully knitted of course, but would love to do the same type of thing.
Ewan McGregor (s?) and Charlie Boorman were the guys that did it.

SupporterDid she get the 650 single or the f800GS which is the twin. The f800 is nice looking at one, tossing up between that and a Triumph Tiger.
I find it amusing growing up I was always called chops..
My wife and I have done about 150k miles on a pair of BMW's since 2007. Including London to Sydney via Japan and several Australian and European adventures. I highly recommend it.
Currently with kids we have been planning on doing a few trips in the defender.
Yes it's the 800 twin but this model is still called the F 650 GS, they changed to F 800 GS in 2013.
Model range for the F 650 GS;
From 2000 to 2007 Single-cylinder 650 cc
From 2007 to 2012, a twin-cylinder 800 cc.
From 2013 to the present F 800 GS and F 700 GS, also the G 650 GS
Usually when the bike is advertised, it will have F650GS(800 twin)
We look at the whole range of the F series bikes, as well as the G series also, after we looked how similar they all are, the R series were too tall for her as was the new F and G series bikes unless you go for the lower height option which is available on all the F and G series range, standard height is 810mm, there are two height option(which are free) 790mm suspension kit and 765mm which is obtained with a lower seat + suspension kit.
Cheers Baz.

SupporterBizarre naming convention from BMW. I did not realise. Strange way to do things. I do like the f800gs though. Don't want bigger as preference for chain drive not shaft. Although I do hear great things about the 1200s.
