Husqvarna Vic. High Country Trip 2025

My brother, in Mackay, is thinking of participating. Would anyone have any sage advice for him?

    23rd to the 28th of November 2025.

What time of year is it? See those white, small tree trunks? They're snow gums, they only grow above a certain altitude. So, it can be bloody cold if you're a Northerner. Good gear, and spare warm understuff. Even in Autumn/Spring. Nobody would be silly enough to do this thing in summer up there. I hope.

Many moons have passed since I rode a bike, so nothing from me on that front, other than good first aid.....

Get a physiotherapist to go as pillion.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Ok, won't be cold, but could be cool... What am I saying, this is the VHC. I live a bit lower than that and we have had snow on Christmas Day here! But it will probably be great. Spectacular country. Probably not hot ( see above and reverse it ). If he's fit and keen it would be a blast imo. But, challenging on a bike. Good PPE would be vital, but that comes with motorcycling in general. I almost envy him... err..

He's a fit 60ish and been riding, nearly continuously, since he was 10. He has all the gear, including tracking/safety gadgets I wasn't familiar with. One such thing is Zoleo. Look it up. I have it on my 'phone as his contact #.

I've heard of Zoleo, but never seen one. Not a bad thing to carry up there, 'cos mobile coverage is pretty rare and patchy when you get it. Newer iPhones can do much the same, carrier dependant, but Zoleo would probably be more reliable, coverage wise.

I would, for a "small" consideration, offer my OKA as a support vehicle

As this is near the end of the Qld Department of Indoctrination, school term, it appears that it's now a no-goer for him.
