    Chainsaw - no power

I know there are a few chainsaw guru's out there & I'm hoping someone might have a clue to whats wrong with my saw.
    It's a 365 Husqvarna with good compression.
It starts OK but just dies in the backside when you try to cut a log. It only has to touch the wood & it's revs fall to idle & sometimes it dies but it will rev all the way up to max with no load, but only for a few seconds then the revs fall away again, usually after trying to cut a log. It will rev happily & the trouble starts when you try to use it.
It seems to be fuel related.
    This is what I've tried.
New fuel filter & lines pressure checked
Same problem with no air filter.
    New spark plug.
    Fresh fuel
Fuel mixture jets checked & correct setting.
It had a replacement - non genuine CDI about 3 years ago & cuts about 5-6 tonne of firewood a year.
    Any thoughts??

The OH&S people snuck into the shed late at night and installed a "No Chaps" safety cut-out feature

    I'm going now

My 357XP had oodles of power towards the end. Unfortunately it wasn't because I had switched to PULP, it was because the plastic clip connecting the carb to the cylinder had cracked - which meant it was running too lean - which meant the piston melted to the bore...

Sounds like you have the opposite problem??? (too rich or not enough fuel). carb blocked or dribbly?

it seems to be load related..........

does it idle fine and rev up quickly and maintain constant WOT if not in wood, drop back to idle and remain smooth and constant? check this and also turn the saw on its side (like you were felling a tree) and check this.

do you have a Tach? if so what is out off wood WOT? how many turns out from fully seated are your low and high speed jets?

You could check to make sure the muffler is not clogged as well. I had a generator (small 2 stroke) with a similar problem a while back.

Same. Wasp's nest, they build them with mud.

Sounds like it is starving for fuel on a WOT.

if it runs okay and revs up okay with out a load on it i dont see how it could be fuel or air related , do those things have any sort of governer or exciter on them like a generator

Yep - still in bits in a crate in the shed waiting for a rebuild. Have had a surplus of jarrah offcuts from reno work (and neighbours gave us all their firewood when they moved) so haven't needed it yet.
