    Toyota Echo lacks power.

My stepdaughter has just been given a manual 2002 Toyota Echo. It seems a bit gutless in comparison to other 1.3's that I've driven. Is this normal as the car seems to run fine but I can't fathom why you have to fairly ring it's neck to get it to keep up with traffic and don't even mention hillstarts with 4 people in it.

    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony.

I was given an echo to drive as a courtesy car whilst my old commodore got a service. It was the most gutless thing on the face of the planet, had to rev it to redline at 80km/h to get it up the hill coming out of lithgow.

With many echoes you have to SHOUT REALLY LOUDLY to get a good and lasting response ...Toyotas are no different, but speaking Japanese helps
