And I was only telling SWMBO yesterday that the best three 4WD diesels to come out of Japan were the TD42(T), 4BD1(T) and 2H.

But alas, just a little more poke to tow a camper was needed

    Sounds a lot like a stock TD42T.

The only downside will be on hot days, too much heat soak from no intercooler will find him dropping gears trying to find some more poke.

    Nice, neat installation Matt.

I still think 1HD-FTE is the pick, slightly higher on the fuel consumption then a 4BD1T though

2H not so much, 12HT though

Yea, about as slow as a stock TD42Ti too

Thats what I told him, its at the safe end of performance, without spending money, needs an intercooler, the intake pipe to the manifold gets hot as, where as my water to air the intake side is cold as cold aluminium to touch, hot on the turbo side

It's a lonely old world out there in the wild, wild, dial-up west.

Oh, the 2H has a butterfly, which has 2 hoses that operate fuelling on the injector pump via vacuum, it has 10"s of maifold vacuum on deceleration

Actually a lonely old 100km drive home from shopping and the flicks if you don't talk

and this was just after the TD42T stuck us up with a bad batch of fuel and no tools to pull the thimble filter

That's why it's not worth spending huge money on a 2H turbo set up. I looked at the AXT kit, then factoring in boost compensation, proper intercooling etc it becomes a $3,500-4,000 job. It's still an inefficient IDI lump. The same money could see a 12HT in, not sure about gearboxes though.
