Anyone done a belt change on a Prado, and if so, anything to watch out for or any tips to smooth things through ?

    cheers.

Rick, I can only comment on the UZ series V8 which are a similar design in that department, it is very simple and the hydraulic tensioner is an easy trick, compress it in a vice and it has a locking pin hole I used a small (1.5mm I think) allen key but you could use a drill bit too, but a bit brittle.

I didn't need any special tools to do the VVTI 3UZFE in the LS430 a while back, I used a genuine Toyota belt kit as the belts are marked to line up with all the pulleys etc, can't make a mistake then

Thanks JC, the sisters car has done 175,000km and I asked when the belt was done, the blank look said it all (supposed to be 150,000km)

I've read about the 1.5mm allen key in the tensioner trick, that's what Toyota tell you to do.
I was going to get a Dayco kit but the Toyota one might be worth looking at, I'll do the water pump at the same time as it's tucked in behind there somewhere too.

Pedro, I was on the road in the arvo and waved to two DII's that went through but had no acknowledgement in return.
    Typical
