    Electric trailer brakes

Not having much to do with drum brakes I thought I'd better ask some experts---
I have now pulled all 4 brake hubs off the trailer,, and while the insides do look 20 years old, all the bits are there and all the magnets seem to be working.
But-- the front pass side had scarcly a mark on the shoes so was adjusted. The front drivers had some wear but didnt need adjusting, (handbrake now works though). Drivers side rear has seen some action and did not require adjustment, pass rear looks to have been doing all the work, shoes due for replacement and has been adjusted in the past.
How important is adjustment on an electric brake system?
What stops the travel of the magnet arm?

I have my first trip DOWN the Toowoomba range next weekend,,
would like not to make the evening news---

    they usually self adjust

theres really only 2 types of adjustments that you make on them

the first is electrical and its the bias adjustment that pulls the magnet in. On older systems or systems that dont need a controler in the vehicle this is usually done with a pot on a box. on a newer system its in the controller in the car.

the second is a typical star wheel adjustment.

heres the link to the ALKO instructions.

yes the self adjusting ones do have the cam finger.

The ALKO brakes dont have them, some of the more exotic top end units do and like the base units they're copied from they work of the over ride/parkbrake cable.
