    Shibaura 5040T

Other than my Disco, my other 4wd is a Shibaura 5040T tractor. Does any one know the equavalent Ford Model number. Some Ford tractors were Shibaura rebranded. I have not had luck so far with google. Perhaps I am searching using wrong terms.

I need a New Starter motor and that is what I am chasing for it.

we have one on the farm in daily use
I often get the numbers mixed up but it was the biggest 3cyl turbo 4X4 IHI shibaura.most of my neighbours bought the little tractor.
the rear tyres are larger than standard and came a few weeks after delivery.

it was one of if not the first in country.
    it was assembled in towoomba.
an engineer came from japan and modifeid the clutch plate and over filled the gearbox oil after long term testing.

after they closed up-went broke ?? the ford dealer on parramata rd took over assembly.
this is what some confuse as im told some are painted ford new holand blue.

when this deal folded they became IHI case.
we buy parts from case easily.i recently replaced raciator with a supplied modified IHI radiator.

Dave, New Holland still use Shibaura's in their small line of tractors and the IHI isn't International Harvester (as in IH-Case, who are now part of New Holland) but IHI as in the Japanese turbocharger people.

IHI Shibaura Machinery Corporation is a subsidiary of IHI Corporation and was established in 1950 in a joint venture between Ishikawajima Shipyard (now IHI Corporation) and Shibaura Engineering Works Co., Ltd. (now Toshiba Corporation) with the intention of providing Japan and the rest of the world with the most comprehensive products in a wide range of fields.

this looks the same except the fron tyres.the rear tyres are the larger wheels on the 4cyl shown bellow.
these are welded center rims that are normally on smaller tractors.

dad done a water pump this week and put the fan blade again through the radiator.

the Kit was bagged IHI-CASE from case equipment cardiff.

the radiator was taged international and not IH-CASE that I ment to write.

It was strange when i went to NZ.lots of jet boats i saw using fordsons to put the boats in the water.these a the time was being replace with the 5000 series
my dad bought the 50hp tractor to replace the 40hp fordson.what we hadnt known that because of the 4X4 we didnt need anything that big.
