96 EL Ford Falcon PCV Valve?

Been scratching my head a while about mild oil usage on my old ford, doesn't burn (at least not obviously, no smoke), doesn't leak but whenI check it I wonder when I spilt it last as around the filler cap is moist.
Today she left a mark on the garage floor (right where teh Disco is due to live, which is going to interfere with checking her leaks lol), and sure enough the area around filler cap is wet again when it was nearly dry...

Could it be a PCV valve? Where is it?

If you remove the spark plugs and you can see lumpy deposits around the electrodes then it's likely burning oil.

The PCV valve may be faulty, remove it from the rocker cover with the engine running, stick your finger over the inlet of the valve. It should click and pull on your finger if working properly. With the PCV removed, see how quickly the fumes come out of the rocker cover PCV grommet. If there's a distinct geyser of fumes your rings may be worn out.

Will try that tomorrow. Took the PCV valve off today and gave it good clean with carby cleaner, it was pretty grotty though still moving but perhaps grotty enough to cause an occasional problem such as was exhibiting
    Thanks
