Was there another position on the key for starting. Like a normal car
Gary
I helped out an elderly neighbour by slashing a few acres whilst her husband was unwell, using their MF135.
Compared to my beloved Grey Fergy, this was quite a beast!
Damned if I could find the starter switch! I found the ignition sw, the starter and its solenoid and rather than spend time tracing the wires back from the solenoid to a push button etc on the instrument panel I just hot-wired the bugger to get the job done.
Can anyone elucidate?

Thnx Gary!
Another person? Errrm not sure what you mean?
2ft of electrical cable with a croc clip on each end.
One croc clip attached to the battery +ve, t'other used to touch the starter solenoid terminal.
Didn't run too good. Fuel starvation. Not run for 12+ months. Main jet out. Ran fuel out for a few mins, blew out the jet & put it back: BINGO!
One powerful old tractor! It just ATE 5 acres of chest high grass with 1st gear hi-ratio. Or maybe my Grey F is getting a bit feeble?
NOW!
It appears diesels have a key start? This one was petrol.
Sorry I hit "submit" too soon!
So MF35 & MF135's also have a combined ign/start sw. But how do we start it? Twisting the key a bit further is a no-go. It just stops and applying excess twist just bends the key! Does one push the key in & twist a la old VW's? Or do we twist/push the body of the sw? I just couldn't work it out and decided WTF, I'll just hot-wire it with the ign on to get the job done.
Is there an interlock on one of the pedals, clutch, brake or neutral on the stick?
Hey Bee Utey! You get around! Yeah that's what the Grey Fergy has got: gear stick in neutral, push it to the left past an override then up to engage a sw that powers up the starter.
But if you read Gary's chart, B3837 is an ignition STARTER sw not an ingnition sw as per the TE20 (B3840), so I'm guessing it's done at the sw?
Did you have the transfer case lever in neutral? (S position) They won't start unless you do.
Cheers, Mick.

Ah ha!
Mick, if it wasn't (and I think it WAS in hi-ratio.) does that lock out the ignition switch? i.e. you can turn on the ign but can't twist the key to engage the starter??
As far as I remember, (it has been 36 years since we had a MF tractor, and they were diesels) the switch turns, but nothing happens.
Cheers, Mick.
