Can anybody please tell me what the carburetor adjustments are on the Grey Fergie.
Looking at the carbie with it still on the tractor I can see two adjusting screws on the right hand side, one low down with a knob on it the other one near the top with a screw driver slot and a spring under the head. On the left hand side I can see something with a flat head which I can turn with my fingers.
I am also having a problem where I can't always get the throttle lever to open the governor, the spring connecting them stretches without moving the governor arm although I can move it with a screw driver, then at other times it works all right.
Any thoughts very welcome thanks in advance
Dave

Hi Dave
Do you know which Carby has your Fergy got?
Schebler "Marvel".
Zenith 24T-2.
Holley 859-A.
The Zenith carbies were popular so I'll get you the service proceedure and the adjustments for those first, your description does seems to match that style any how.
Undo the metal fuel line where it goes into the carby and check for a steady flow of petrol, ( assuming that yours is a petrol model TEA 20 and not a kerosene TED-20 ) turn off the fuel tap.
Undo the two nuts holding the carby to the manifold, undo the throttle linkage and choke rod.
Check the gasket between the intake manifold and the flange is still ok.
Make sure the oil bath air cleaner has clean fresh oil up to it's level mark.
Check the inside of the pipe and coupling hoses going between the air cleaner and the carby.
Clean the carby on the outside first then pull it apart carefully to clean the inside while watching that the gasket hasn't stuck to both sides and breaks.
Check the operation of the needle and seat, see if all the jets are all clear and check the operation of the float and making sure it hasn't trapped any petrol inside it.
To reassemble, just put anything back in reverse to the order it was pulled apart, first it's best to get yourself a new overhaul kit from somewhere like Bareco or Spareco.
The float should have it's top marked.
Check that the mating flange surface is not bent as it may need truing up.
With everything hooked up again except the air cleaner pipe, the adjustments need to be placed in their initial settings.
Holding the choke plate fully open, locate the choke spindle spring in the notch in line with the boss on the air intake duct ( 12 o'clock position ) ( that's the little wheel on your left ).
Wind the main jet fully home till it seats, then turn back out 1 3/4 to 2 turns approx open.
The slow running jet, turn open approx 1 turn ( The adjustment with the spring on it that screws into the body of the carby ).
Adjust the slow running screw, so that the tractor idles about 400 to 450 RPM.
.
Thanks Arthur, a can of degreaser reveled it is a zenith. I assume that if the screw with the spring under the head is the slow running jet then the one below it with the knurled knob is the main jet would this be right? .
Thanks again Dave
