    Removing silicone

After cracking a rim half on my race sidecar, sending me off the track at over 200 kmh, I have received some new rim halves. I have disassembled the three piece wheel, but am struggling to remove all the old silicone. Is there something that will remove silicone?

Selleys do a silicon remover gel (available at Bunnings) which you just spread on and leave for a few hours. Works pretty well, without having to resort to anything that may damage mating surfaces.
