cast aluminium protection
I have a milemaker winch. The gearbox and end section are cast aluminium (AFAIK). the powder coating has not done a very good job and corrosion has set in. I am going to strip it down.
what is the best way to remove and clean?
what will be the best coating type for future protection?
cheers

Have a look into:
Rustmasters <www.rustmasters.com.au>
They probably put too much time & $ into the product and not enough into marketing.
Good shizzle - great prep coat prior to paint system on pretty much any substrate.

Thanks Steve,
have you used it on cast aluminium? I was getting the impression it mostly for rusted steel?

I use it on most everything
On cast aluminium it will soak in stabilise any powderey surface and prep nicely for any over coating.
To be honest on a winch I wouldnt even bother with topcoating just the rustmasters???
btw - kicks ass on cured concrete - wicks in and seals it up making it relatively impervious to oil.
