    Post LED Bar Lights

Can I put LED bar lights on my vehicle in NSW. I have been on this computer for hours reading RTA NSW site and other sites and nothing is coming up to say it is against the law or what are the restriction. I want to install them on my vehicle because I want to see well around me when I'm at night in the hills at night not 1 mile down the road. I want something bright up close and out wide.
    Any help would be good.

    Regards
    Dave

as far as I'm aware, on the roof is illegal although i have seen plenty with them up there. They have made them legal on bars in some states (or all, I'm not sure sorry) as there were issues with spot light being in pairs but they have made an exemption for light bars. I have had mine on since Jan and have had no issues and its not well hidden either!
I would just put one on if you really want as heaps of people have them now.
Here is a pic, its the only pic I have of it at the moment.IMG_6947.jpg

I know Qld and I believe SA have the issues with light bars sorted.

Mine has been through rego in NSW with the bar on, and passed fine. I don't think I would worry too much. There is apparently an amendment to ADRs coming to cover the 'single' light problem.

Is there a reason its posted in the non-LR section?

Depending on the type of vehicle the NSW RTA might have a varying view ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

No Sorry your wrong. Go through RMS and show us any link please. Ill just say go look at the wrangler options catalogue.
Since the introduction of the current model jeep wrangler in 06/07 roof spot light bars are perfectly legal as they are a FACTORY FITTED OPTION! This means a roof mounted light/bar complies with ADR's, as long as it does not dazzle the driver or restrict their view and only comes on with high beam and a separate switch. There are a few other minor things like pairs(being resolved in relation to LED's) and positioning.
    This is Australia wide.

There's too many opinions as weather they are legal or not and the road rules and regs are as hard to read as a bible. I didn't state it was gospel that it was illegal but here is a thread with varied opinions.

Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 13/00 - Installation of Lighting and Light Signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles) 2005

7.2.4.2. In height: at the same height as far as practicable above the ground not less than 600 mm nor more than 1,500 mm (2,100 mm if the shape of the body-work makes it impossible to keep within 1,500 mm.)

Most coppers would bother you unless you use them driving around in metro areas blinding other drivers.

Just bought a new Mercedes truck and it has a light bar on it. If you are getting one on make sure it is a good one , plenty of crap ones around.
