    Blinder RADAR detector/JAMMER

Has anyone used one of these or know of a 'mate' who's got one?

I know the different states have different rules....so please don't get into me on the legalities, unless you have a good point

Reason is, I've noticed a couple of Ceyanne's with them. How? Because the laser receiver on my 'mates' radar detector goes off behind the odd Porsche ceyanne, happened twice in the space of one 'nice suburb', but stops when the Porsche disappears from sight. No other obvious source was seen.

This is it - Best Laser Jammer - Blinder HP-905 Laser Gun Defence - No Demerit Points - No speeding fines

    Or, are there better products?

Just don't speed! There, it's been said already.

I have been told, by the time they detect the radar, you're gone anyway.
I don't use them. I take my chances. Seems to have worked well to date.

    I assume that's a "Cayenne"

I think their owners are in the same class as RRS owners......

A lot of the current laser/radar detectors will go off when they see current generation Volvos, whether that's to warn you there's a Volvo driver near by so watch out, or its the adaptive cruise control and crash avoidance technologies they are fitted with I'll let you decide.

The crash avoidance tech is making its way onto a number of top end cars now.

As to detector effectiveness, it all depends how the operator has set the camera/van up. If they've hidden it behind a bush and the camera is almost perpendicular to the road then you get bugger all warning, if they got it setup pointing right down the road you get a lot of notice. For rear facing camera's sometimes you get reflections from the car in front give some warning, otherwise only as you pass the camera and you're relying on sight.

    Thanks Stu,

Agree on the Volvo General warning...

Understand the collision avoidance, used 'mates' detector while driving Merc GL and as we approached cars from behind, the Mercs collision avoidance radar/laser bounced back and triggered the detector.

In saying that, the cayenne/ceyanne (can't bother learning the spelling ) Porsche set the detector off from more than 500m away, and the signal strength was Max. So I don't think that was collision avoidance radar/laser?

Also understand the setup position, and reflection.

So to emphasise my request for experience, I'm really interested in the claim that the blinder can emit a signal that successfully prevents the laser gun getting a speed reading. The website has a video showing that, but as you do, I'm looking for anyone who actually has/used one and what they think of it.

You wouldn't believe where I saw the add, on the police camera location webpage, the page that tells you where the portable cameras are for the day interesting juxtaposition?

you stirrer, that was me not long ago, I reckon RRS owners have a bit more practicality than crayonne/roxanne (whatever they are) drivers. If you want a Porsche then get a 911 Carrera? I reckon.

I used an Escort combination GPS navigator/detector in the US in 2011. Very good at detecting. Looks just like a navigator sitting on your dashboard. I would have bought one but they didn't have Australian maps available.

I did know an ex-RAAF electronics technician who claimed he could build a foolproof detector using military technology and it would look just a technicians diagnostic instrument in a nice leather case with an analogue meter. He said he called it a "microwave emissions detector" if asked. It was an expensive piece of kit, made to order. Lost track of him. He used to live at Morningside but moved to Manly and I have not seen him since.
