    Briggs and Stratton

Just bought a new 3.5 hp 4stroke motor on ebay. Delivered from S.A. no problem. However invoice states o/p shaft is 3/4 inch. Beauty, a direct fit to old adapter. Darn shaft measures 5/8 inch, adapter won't fit. Anyone have a suggestion as adapter fits a 3/4 shaft to drive gearbox. I don't want to have to send the motor back if possible. Jim

X2 above. However if there is no resolution, you should be able to get a speedy sleeve to take the shaft out to 3/4 inch. Just not sure it would grip tight enough to do the job for you.

adapter is keyed onto shaft and locked by a grub screw. Supplier said if I sent the adapter back he might be able to modify it but I was hoping for a local solution. A speedy sleeve would work if a slot was cut for the key but I would have to find a deeper key to cover the extra thickness. It would be good if I could find a 5/8 tube with a keyway in it. I could weld the 3/4 drive onto the end. I tis only for a garden rotary hoe. Jim
