    Drilling rig air intake

    can anyone help me out with the name and purpose of thing seen in this photo coming off the air intake filter assembly at approximately 7 o'clock in this photo.



    it is like some kind of rubber dump valve I think but it would be great if someone could clarify.

    It looks like the dump valve on RRC air cleaners.

    The air cleaner has a cyclone action,dirt accumulates in that tube.Before starting you squeeze the gland and it releases the dirt.Its shaped like that to collapse onto itself whilst the engine is running so it is air/water resistant.Very common on most earthmoving/farming equipment.

    I was trying to think of what it was called,kept thinking ducks beak,you are correct.
