Roller drawers VS Timber with Teflon runners

    Hi Guys,

Decided to get some draws for my Defender 110, has anyone had

experience with Roller draws and timber ones that use Teflon runners.

The timber ones, i can get fitted, so they are easy to remove and are cheaper.

i dont mind spending the extra $500 if the roller type are heaps better.

    Thanks guys.

I've got roller drawers and had them previously in a Dmax. I can't comment on the Teflon runners but I've never had a problem with the rollers. A consideration is what weight would you be able to put on the Teflon runners and have the drawer open. I leave mine open all the time and have quite a bit of weight in them with tools etc. and its never a problem.

My storage system as both. My 110 leaks dust. The dust affected the ball bearing type roller draw but not sliding draw. A sealed bearing type set up would be unaffected. Or get a dust free car.

We have the Drifta drawers with Teflon runners, they are fine, previous drawers had bearing runners, they are good too, but there's not a lot of difference with the Teflon runners with ease of use, ther're quieter though, give you extra drawer space, and makes the drawers cheaper.

One tip with the teflon runners though, you'll need to spray some silicon on them once every now and then, I usually do it just before we go away.

Agree with Baz. We have Drifta too. No issue with drawers fully extended out when loaded. Less to go wrong with the Teflon slides compared to ball bearing runners. Have had some issues with ball bearing ones on the camper trailer.

If it's important to you, the "locked in the open position" probably is easier to get with the ball bearing runner because lock mechanism is built into runner. Can still be done with a separate lock when using Teflon slides. But I find it stays open without locking anyway unless on a big slope.

I've also got Drifta. Have a lot of weight in them and no problems.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

+1 for Drifta and Teflon slides. More drawer space and less moving parts, work just as well.

Not Teflon (PTFE) - it wont last... I suffers cold flow and abrasion too easily...

Use UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight White Polyethylene) - Its self lubricating (dry) and hard wearing...
(This is the gear Drifta also use)

I'd buy Drifta again, with the UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight White Polyethylene) slides, teflon is easier to type Mike
