    Diesel is the go, but you need to soak the tar for a while to soften it if it has gone hard, soak a rag in diesel and cover the hard bits for an hour or so, Regards Frank.

    I got the left side of a previous vehicle, including the wheels, sprayed with tar while passing through roadworks a while back. By the time I got it home, it had set hard.

    Some metho on a rag shifted it.
