Found that their is a resitor located by the fan motor - this was faulty - changed it and all good now.

My 96 Ford Festiva is having an issue with the AC / Fan control.
With the fan setting on 1 the AC works, but when you change the fan speed to 2 or 3 their is a clicking sound around the glove box area, and the AC stops working (the AC light goes off).
I do have a running parts car for it. I pulled out the whole HVAC control unit out of the old one and swapped them - tested prior and the AC was working on all fan speeds and i do not hear the clicking sound. Put it into the other car and the same thing happens - AC stops when changing fan speeds. I put the so called faulty one into the parts car and it works on all fan speeds.
As mentioned above their is a clicking sound when you go from fan speed 1 to 2 and back to 1.
Will their be a seperate solenoid on the fan motor assembly? Is this the clicking I am hearing?

SubscriberI was tempted to say that a new fan is probably worth more than the car. LOL
Good save from one who also keeps old ****boxes going when required.
