    Run a ford C4 Auto conversion,brilliant!!!!!!
If you are ever passing thru Williams send me a PM,can show you my Ser3 it has a 302 Cleveland and C4 auto mated to the Series transfercase.
My Bro runs a 2a wagon with a tough alloy head and C4 too.

I thought about an auto but I prefer my manuals, a Series with a 302 and auto must feel pretty different to a standard one. I find when ever I drive our EL Falcon I keep going to change gear and that doesn't seem to work with an auto, just habit I guess. I do occasionally pass through Williams but not very often but I might have a look one day. I have to bring my 100" to Perth sometime soon to get my engineers certificate. Thanks for the offer.

Mine is an unfinished project.I did drive it sometime with the conversion before starting the rebuild.Even with a stuffed 302 it went REALLY WELL

Regarding the c4 auto, there is a huge range of gear selection options. You can change it to part manual select PRN123 and other configurations. I can't remember what the plates are called, but do some research on c4 in 4x4 use. I am a manual fan but would go a modded c4 any day.
Regarding the holden conversion, I have an adapter plate, clutch, engine mounts etc. PM me if interested, though freight could be a killer.

The C4 sounds like the auto to go for in a Landy but as I said I like my manuals. Thanks for the offer on the conversion plate and clutch. I haven't got any mounts to suit a 4cyl conversion, I can only find mounts for a 6cyl Land Rover, so maybe If you could find out how much they might cost that would be good. The distance is an issue, Queensland is a long way away from me. I'll have to find out what clutch setup I'm going to use, I'd like to use the Landy clutch and flywheel but that'll need a bit of work to get that converted, I've got a Landy pressure plate, clutch plate and flywheel spare and they're in good condition so I've got the parts to do it.

    Ford 6 into IIA

One of the scariest rides I ever had was in a 250 powered S2....hills certainly didn't seem to bother it, and it had no trouble pulling a caravan at 75mph....

That would have scared the hell out of me as well. The 202 should be nicer on the gearbox and axles but the t/case will laugh at a 302 let alone a 202. Just keep the smoking starts to a minimum (tyres not the engine) One thing that is difficult to resist is chasing foxes around so I'll have to be careful cause theres a lot of them around here. Still love the 250 X-Flow but I can't afford it now so I'll have to wait a bit, but by then I'll want a V8 again.

Been a long time since I've looked at this post but I'm back, the 202 didn't work out cause piston No.3 was absolutely stuffed and the clever person who had it before me did a rebuild and bored it out .080thou so that killed that. I'm interested in the 250 again and I'm really liking the idea of an auto, the motor I was looking at was around the EF EL era and same with the gearbox but the problem is the T/case, I don't know how I'd mount it behind the auto or a top loader if I found one cheap enough, I know you can get adapters for Top-loader to Series T/case but no clue where or how let alone an auto adapter. My other ideas are 3.5 Rover or 302 but they cost more than a 250 and the gearbox situation rises again.

I'm in the same boat here, I'm still thinking about replacing the 186 in my Series 3 88" with a ford motor and Auto box.

Yeah I went to the wreckers today and almost every motor was a 4.0L Falcon with the 4 speed auto on the back and I was so tempted to say I'll take one but I don't have the money for what he's asking, He quoted me around $500 for a high kilometer motor and the same price for a gearbox but that was for the 5 speed manual. My Ideal setup would be a manual to help with engine braking on my farm ute cause it's brakes aren't very good and I like dropping gears and giving it to it through the mud The 4.0L also has the best sound a 6 cyl can make with the right exhaust setup it's a close to a V8 as you get.
