Very noice !! Be keen to see how she runs - especially with the Eaton on there...
radiators in tomorrow, and we start running it in.
a long slow process, had it going and had to pull it out again due to a cracked Flex plate ......... BUGGERIT!!

so will we Junosi, so will we. it sounds very strong.
wouldn't have attempted it without the support of my mates at Austune, it was not in any way a simple bolt on.
bigger exhaust valves, cam specifically built for grunt low down and to suit the blower, Haltech to piggyback some functions, are the basics ,
plus a lot of racecraft in the build from my mates years of building race motors
what started as a dropped valve, went to a major engine rebuild and Tornado Chip,
a few Bundys n Beams later contacted a member on here that had the Eaton off another P38,
6mths later Voila' nearly done.

so sweet... but will the bonnet close?...and would you want it to?
Keep those pics coming please Tasi.
Cheers, Paul.

Very excited. I have been thinking of adding the a supercharger to mine. I would love to see pictures of the manifold plate you made at the bottom of the Eaton and any others you have of the build? It looks like an M90 is that correct? There was some talk of over heating with the one designed by Cameron Concepts in San Diego but nothing that i could verify? Is yours a full haltech system or the interceptor?
Are the bigger valves a must? I have been reading other US sites and no mention of engine mods but definitely these would help with flow etc.
I would love to find out more about this.
Cheers,
Remy
What was that Graham Kennedy used to say about the crows? Wasn't it
****, ****, ****!
Looking really good Tasi! I'm less interested in pic's, really just wanna hear that thing fire up!!! Shame Youtube doesn't transmit smells too.
yeh Paul the bonnet does close......just.
had to trim the bonnet blanket. been looking at a coupla scoops eg. later model Cruiser can't find anything that suits. another option is a 'power bulge' in the bonnet. may not need anything we'll see.
Remy , yeh it's an M90, came with the adapter plates, Haltech is a Platinum sprint 500.
the reason for the bigger exhaust valves is to clear the combustion chamber quickly, don't need bigger inlets as it is coming in under pressure. cam was built specifically for this motor, think it's a Crow cam not sure. the boys did lots of other little things, ie matched ports, just from experience in building race motors.
DT, if i can work out how to take a movie on my camera and get it onto Youtube i might do that, it's got a new exhaust system from the original headers back, including bigger Cats.

two engine rebuilds & at least one year later
it kept killing the front four pistons/rings etc. & other stuff, i've run out of dollars & patience
had a lot of other stuff going on in my life, finally got the vehicle back day before xmas with other issues. new battery should fix most of them, but it idles fast (1600/1800), think the Tornado chips need to remap the computer...but we'll see.
Paul, sent you a e-mail

Hey Tasi,
Good on ya for taking on such a project! Could only dream about it at this stage, but sounds like the ultimate P38. Do you think you will finally get it sorted? What did you do in regards to cooling system upgrades to calm the beast?
Fantom, never had an issue with cooling.
probably only did 50km+/- on each rebuild, but that was enough to know all the systems were okay, and it went like a bat outa hell.
think to get it bullet proof you'd have to mount the blower higher on a baffled box in the valley between the heads.
i'm done with any more experiments .............. for awhile
need to start fixing some other stuff on it; there's now a knock in the suspension/steering on sharp bumps, the sunroof lining & a couple of door panel linings are coming adrift, it 's leaking oil like a seive, badly needs detailing inside & out, compressor is running too much, need to source a new/ish bonnet blanket ( mechanic had a fire in the back of the engine bay)....but the main issue is the fast idle.
took it for a 250km run today (took the missus for lunch down at Ross, poor girl she still loves to ride in it, it is nice for sure) hoping the Tornado chips would remap the fuel etc. no go got back home, still idling at 1800rpm. disconnected new battery for a couple hours, still the same.
