Razza stranded in Rockhampton with a cooked engine

Spoke with Razza (Ryan) today. Poor bugger had the top radiator hose come off his P38a while driving up to Cairns and it sounds like the engine has cooked, heads gasket(s) at the very least.

He has had the car towed to Rockhampton and is hoping to get it checked tomorrow.

If any of our members are up that way and can lend a hand, recommend a good LR workshop, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Just waiting to hear back from him if it is ok to post his mobile number on the forum....

Ryan has agreed to give out his mobile if anyone wishes to call him direct, as he has no Internet connection 0422,616,212

    HI, I'm only new to the Landrover scene but I know of a place which specialise in Landrovers in Rockhampton;

If you could pass this on

How do you like your range rover sir? medium or Well done?

    Hey guys,
No word back from the mechanics yet, but i was stuck in rocky and ended up getting a room for the night and a flight to cairns, after waiting 6 hours at the airport (with luggage). I looked like one of those back packers...lol. lucky i had my laptop with me.

Ill keep you guys up to date, but god go out and check your top radiator hose!! make sure that hose clamp thingy is on tight as...

    Cheers

Sorry to hear of your woes
Iv`e never been convinced with the spring type clamps now in common use. The worm drive type are tied and tested so they get my vote. Also why on earth did Landrover not put a low level float in the expansion tank like used in the later classics. Progress I suppose?
I bought a simple float switch on e-bay for a couple of dollars but cant see an easy spot to fit it. I am a bit shy to drill into the bottom of the expansion tank and the baffles within would make it very hard to tighten and seal.

Here's mine - it's been in a couple of years.

It uses an expanding rubber bung to expand into the hole.

I see the supplier now shows the same fitting location as I've done.

    RACQ tothe rescue!

    Hey guys,
After talking to the mechanic (daniel) at rocky LR, he mentioned that if your on a certain level of RACQ that you have the choice to have the vehicle recovered to your home, or your nominated repairer near home.

After a quick call to the friendly people down at the RACQ ( bloody lucky i got that membership) and they said that they have option 4, where to owner can have the vehicle recoverd instead of repairing it!!!

So now that the tow home is free, I will be fitting a motor myself.!!!

Check out your Roadside assit policy if you ever need something like this

    Cheers lads
    RAZ
