No evidence of washing on piston, did'nt pick up on liner movement either, was pretty thorough, believe me, did'nt want to remove motor, to put it back in with similar dramas. As vehicle is situated in flinders rangers and I live and work 150km away down spencer gulf, not always easy to try different theories. Muchly appreciate all imput and any other thoughts are much welcome ! Will keep ya posted on progress tho. 1 st Rangie......is this the welcome to expect in being in the Rangie owners realm......hope not......Is an impressive vehicle!
Also....If a slipped liner would'nt it use coolant ? when using modified thermostat everything seems good, 90 % sure, no coolant usage when test driven.....when get next chance will 99.9 % confirm that tho !
Your not realising the importance of what Scouse is saying ....
Get the front up on ramps .... start the motor ... fill and check till warm ... leave it till cool ... then restart motor again .... check it on the ramps in cycles for an hour (if it's being stubborn)
Also ... Your modified thermostat ... Have you tested it to see if it opens up fully in a pot of boiling water?? ... Generally you throw the old one in the bin and replace with new
Also .... WHY did you change the head gaskets in the first place?? .... Did you get the face of the heads checked & decked down at the head shop ... They are Aluminium after all
Cheers
Mike
